Michael John Morkin was my great grandfather who was born in March 1857 in Ogdensburg, N.Y. His parents were Philip Morkin and Catherine Morkin, nee Meagher, who were both born in Ireland, probably County Tipperary, and came to the U.S. through Canada in 1854. I've been doing genealogy searches on this side of the family, but have hit a brick wall. Anybody knowing anything about the Morkins, please let me know.

My great great grandparents were Thomas Maher (b. 1820) and Catherine Morkin (b. 1832). Both were believed to have been from Co. Tipperary. They were in NJ by 1855 where their daughter Mary was born. John is a known brother of Thomas Maher and possibly he had another brother, Richard. I have records of two of Catherine Morkin's brothers, William (b. 1834) and Daniel (b. 1836). Did you by any chance have anything on the siblings of Philip Morkin and Catherine Meagher? If not, good luck in your search. These are very elusive people!

Thanks
Nancy Maher Gill
