I am looking for information on my grandfather’s family. My grandfather’s name was Clarence Wright who was born in Canton and died in Colton. I have run into brick walls trying to find this side of the Wright family. I did find part of the family listed in the 1860 census for Canton, NY. At that time they lived on Irish Settlement Road in Canton, next to the Sullivan and Riley families. I was told that my great Uncle Thomas Wright had moved to Rochester and possibly worked for Eastman Kodak and that my great Uncle John Wright moved to Syracuse. That my great Aunt Florence Wright had died at the age of 24 in a car accident. 1) William Wright 1816 - Feb. 13, 1905, (have been told that William was born in Red Mills, NY) married Elizabeth Sullivan, and that she was born in Ireland. William Wright and Elizabeth Sullivan's children a) Mary born 1812 married Martin Tobin b) James born March 12, 1845 married Mary Riley c) Elizabeth born 1846 and died Feb. 2, 1931 d) Catherine born 1848 married Robert O'Hara e) John born 1850 married Mary Angel f) Margaret born 1852 g) Ellen born 1854 h) William born 1855 or 1856 married Olive Olmstead 2) (b) James born March 12, 1845 died 1927, married Mary Riley. Mary was born 1856. Her parents where Thomas and Rose Gaffney Riley. Believe she had at least two brothers. One named Thomas and another named John of Canton. James Wright and Mary Riley's children a) Mary married Arthur Grant b) Margaret married John Gehan c) Rose married Frank Markell d) William e) Edna married Bernard Maroney f) James married Olive Grover g) John E. married Marge Geer h) Thomas F. married Mary Reynolds i) Joseph C. married Muriel Heaton j) Lawrence born 1887 died Feb. 2, 1888 k) Clarence born May 9, 1897 died June 2, 1983, married Flora Crump. I have Wright's from Wife's familey and from mine. Bathsheba Wright married John Kelley around 1800 in Vermont most likely. Benjamin Wright married Mary ----- in Mass, had daughter Jemima who married Thomas Hancock 16 Nov 1749 of Springfield, Mass. Their daughter Diadema Hancock married Nathaniel Warriner and died about 1849 in Clayton, NY Joseph Wright married a Mercy Bartlett 4 Feb 1768 She was the widow of Benjamin Warriner Lewis Wright married Mercy Warriner Jul 1786 Rachel Wright b Jefferson County, NY Jan 1842. Died 1 May 1912 in Macomb, St lawrence county, NY Married Robert Finley abt 1861. She had a brother Seaman Wright. There Parents were William Wright born abt 1779 and died in Canada and Sophronia Massey who was born and died in Canada. Hope this helps and you can make some connections to your Wright's | ||
