My sister researched the LaLonde linage and reported Oliver and Marcelien LaLonde, both born in Montreal Canada, could speak no english when they settled in Alpena, Michigan in 1869 from New York. Oliver's 18 year old brother Joseph and their newborn son accompanied them on the journey. |

I am interested in attempting to trace my family history and lineage. I was born, raised, and still live in Ogdensburg New York. My father was Stuart John Lalonde, (born 1920). My grandfather was Leon Lalonde. I believe he was also born and raised in Ogdensburg, however, I am not positive of this. Through various internet sources, I have been able to identify the first Lalonde to reside in North America. His name was Jean de Lalonde (born aprox. 1640) in France. He died on September 30, 1687 in the area of Baie D'Urfe' an area between what is now Montreal and Quebec City, Canada. The Lalonde's familly tree has numeous branches and forks. I don't have any idea how to determine which of those branches and forks lead to me in Ogdensburg New York. |

Are you related to Cordelia ("Corky") Lalonde McNally? She is the widow of my cousin Patrick John McNally. They lived in Ogdensburg. Another branch of the O'Burg McNally clan also married a Lalonde: James William McNally and Marian Lalonde. |
